As if you needed another reason to vote, Ben and Jerry's have announced that they'll be handing out free scoops to everyone who places a vote this Election Day! All you have to do is show up at your local Ben and Jerry's Scoop Shop (sadly, you can't just snag a pint from the 7-11 and run out screaming, "I'm a registered voter! I'm above the lawwww!") between 5-8 pm on Nov. 4, show them your "I Voted Today!" sticker, a picture of yourself in front of a voting booth, or do the "I Voted Dance", whatever that may be, and voila! This Is What Women Want is your chance to cut through the spin and tell the media, the candidates and the world exactly what you want this election season. Let’s demonstrate how diverse we are in thought, action, and experience. Let’s uncover what we have in common. Let’s amplify our own and each others’ voices until they cannot be ignored.
There are two ways to get heard:
Online: Right here at ThisIsWhatWomenWant.com is the place to declare and describe what you want from the candidates and the media.
In Person: Throughout the Fall, we’ll be embarking on a This Is What Women Want Tour of speakouts across the country, starting in Boston and then taking place in each debate city the night before the debate. At each location, local and national media will sit up and listen to women – from the very famous to the not-yet-known. It could be your voice at that mic!
However you participate, we’ll be sending the best speakouts to the media and the candidates every week.
From sexism, racism, and other bias in the media’s coverage of the campaign, to immigration, war, poverty, health care, reproductive justice, sexual freedom, worker’s rights, violence, education, environmental concerns and more, this is an unprecedented chance to set the agenda for the country. Whether you’ve got a criticism of the status quo or a visionary idea that no one has yet considered, we want to hear from you.
Our goal is simple: to ensure that the real and varied concerns of women are a force to be reckoned with this election season.
On December 18, 1972 while shopping for a Christmas tree with the children, (his wife) Neilia's car was hit by a truck. Neilia and (Daughter) Naomi died instantly. The boys were seriously injured.
